PORT STEPHENS

NEW SOUTH WALES

The Port Stephens electorate is 1,286 square kilometres in size and covers the coastal and regional communities north of Newcastle. It stretches from Duns Creek in the west to Shoal Bay in the east, Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest in the north, and Williamtown to the south.

The electorate includes stunning coastal towns, beautiful regional centres, charming villages along pristine estuaries, and productive farmland and waterways. The major population centres include Raymond Terrace, Medowie and Nelson Bay.

While well known for its striking beaches and pristine marine park, Port Stephens is also home to the RAAF Base Williamtown, Newcastle Airport and large manufacturers based at Tomago.

The electorate of Port Stephens has a population of roughly 71,400 people, with a median age of 45. Close to 81% of all residents were born in Australia and nearly 5% of the population is Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
