Flying the Flag with Tea Gardens RSL

Kate Washington presenting NSW Flag to Tea Gardens RSL

Port Stephens MP Kate Washington has presented a NSW State Flag to members of the Tea Gardens RSL Sub-Branch to fly on their newly installed flag poles in Anzac Park.

The flag was accepted by Sub-Branch members Raymond Prigg and Paul Colver, who will use the flag in the upcoming Remembrance Day ceremony.

Tea Gardens RSL will be a host for an expanded Remembrance Day ceremony as the sub-branch is joined by members from surrounding Port Stephens sub-branches.

The Remembrance Day event will include at least 100 local school children leading the march, as the RSL recognises the 100 year as the Returned Services League marks its 100 year of supporting returned veterans and their families.

The 2018 Remembrance Day event will be celebrated on Saturday 11 November at Anzac Park on Marine Drive Tea Gardens. Guests are asked to arrive at 10:30am, with the march starting at 10:45am and the Anzac Park ceremony commencing at 11am.

“I was pleased to be able to support the Tea Gardens RSL sub-branch’s upcoming Remembrance Day activities by presenting them a NSW State Flag.

“Tea Gardens RSL sub-branch does important work supporting veterans in our area, as well as giving the community the opportunity to show our respects to these returned veterans and their families.

“The new flag poles in Anzac Park are terrific and I am looking forward to the Remembrance Day activities on 11 November. The Sub-Branch has done well organising other RSL groups and children to attend what will be an important day of reflection.”
